Judging Day from Yorkshire in Bloom
...... Visited Hook Village earlier this month for the 2010 Summer Judging. They were taken round the village by Hook in Bloom Secretary Susan Dunleavy and fellow volunteer Sid Johnson. The route took in Water Lane along the bank to Ferry Lane, Hook Hall, High Street, Roseacres viewing gardens, planters, hanging baskets. A car was provided for the morning from Brian Leighton Garage - Howden and the designated driver was Niki Fisher-Barr. The Judges were taken by car to view St Mary's Church, Hook Cemetary which they were very much impressed with and then onto Hook Primary School. There they met the Teachers and Pupils and were impressed with what they had achieved with their gardening project since last visiting them in the Spring. They walked the rest of the village speaking to residents on route and then it was back to the Memorial Hall for a well earned rest and refreshments provided by Volunteer Anita Johnson. Before finishing up at Cherrytree Allotments the Judges commented on how Hook in bloom and the villagers had worked together to make the village look outstanding.
Fingers crossed for us as results are out on the 14th September.
